Colombia is the first country in the Americas to receive vaccines via COVAX

This Monday 1st Colombia received the first batch of vaccines against COVID-19 via COVAX Facility, the World Health Organization (WHO) global initiative to ensure rapid and equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines for all countries, being the first country in the Americas to be covered by the WHO initiative.

The batch of 117,000 doses of the Pfizer / BioNTeck vaccine arrived in Bogotá and was celebrated by President Iván Duque in a statement. The country, which started its vaccination program on February 17, wants to vaccinate 35 million people by the end of the year.

Peru, El Salvador and Bolivia will be the next countries to benefit from COVAX in Latin America.
