The Colombian economy has once again recorded 20 million people employed in September, a figure that had not been seen since March, when the impact of strict quarantines was first felt. The information is from the Colombian newspaper La Republica.
Although unemployment figures continue to be high, there is evidence of a recovery or reinstatement to employment of about one million Colombians, to return to 20 million people with an occupation.
According to Dane (National Administrative Department of Statistics), the unemployment rate in September was 15.8%, the lowest since March. During this month, 67% of the jobs were recovered, since 5.4 million were lost in April and the figure for reemployment in September reached 3.7 million of that total.
