Colombian government announces the postponement of the third VAT-free day

The President of Colombia, Iván Duque, announced the postponement of the third day without Value Added Tax (VAT), initially scheduled for Sunday.

The first VAT-free day in Colombia caused agglomerations. Now, Duque said that the decision to postpone the third day responds to the measures that are being taken locally to mitigate the pandemic, says La República.

According to Portafolio, the third VAT-free day attracted several criticisms, not only from the health point of view but also from the commercial point of view, since some sectors had pointed out the inconvenience of the day with the current conditions of some cities, as it would not have the impact of the other days without VAT.
