Colombia’s protests delayed vaccines arrival; country expands government’s aid

In Latin America, Colombia, Ecuador, Cuba, Costa Rica, Guyana and Paraguay are in an increasing trend of COVID-19 cases, while in Brazil the numbers of deaths, cases and hospitalizations are falling, as well as Uruguay, according go Reuters global COVID-19 tracker.

On Wednesday, La República reported that arrival of Pfizer’s vaccines in Colombia has been delayed due to protests. The country has been having protests over tax increases with clashes between police and protesters.

Also, Colombia‘s Senate approved the extension of Paef (Programa de Apoyo al Empleo Formal) and the April payment of it, the government’s financial aid supporting employees amid the pandemic. The decision extends the program until September of this year.
