The Brazilian labor market lost 331,901 formal jobs in May. Since the beginning of the isolation measures against COVID-19 outbreak in the country, in March, 1.4 million job vacancies were closed.
These figures were released this Monday (29) by the Ministry of Economy. In total, 1.14 million formal jobs were lost in the first five months of 2020.
The service sector, followed by industry, commerce, and construction are the most affected.
According to Reuters, the number of formal jobs in Brazil fell to 37.7 million, the lowest total for any month of May since 2011.
