The Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) guaranteed Active Pharmaceutical Input (IFA) delivery to produce over 70 million doses of Oxford vaccine in the second half of the year. Two agreements were signed to provide this: one for 50 million doses, already signed, and another for 20 million, signed this week in a meeting with AstraZeneca.
The contract for sending more IFA ensures that the production of the vaccine in Brazil will not be stopped in August and September. Only in October Fiocruz expects to be able to deliver doses produced with the 100% national IFA.
Fiocruz delivered 3 million Oxford/Astrazeneca vaccine doses to the Ministry of Health‘s National Immunization Program (PNI). So far, Fiocruz has provided 65.9 million doses to PNI, including the 4 million imported from the Serum Institute in India.
