As social distancing, remote work policies and government lockdowns due to COVID-19 outbreak increased the demand for video calls, business conferencing platforms experienced a record growth and hit their biggest week ever in March: 62 million downloads in the March 14-21 week, according to App Annie report, disclosed by TechCrunch.
The media outlet reckons that Zoom was downloaded 14 times more than the weekly average during the fourth quarter of 2019 in the U.S. However, the shares of Zoom dropped 6.14% lower at Monday’s close compared to the day’s open in America. It happened because The New York Times reported that the app whose traffic has surged is under a scrutiny by the New York attorney general’s office for its data privacy and security practices.
