iPhone update will let users see COVID-19 exposure notifications without downloading third-party apps

Using Bluetooth in smartphones, Apple developed in May a contact tracing technology along with Google to notify people when they come into close contact with someone who has self-identified as positive for COVID-19.

But while iPhone’s technology would previously only work for users who downloaded a contact tracing app from a local public health authority, now, the smartphone is preparing to launch an iOS update (iOS 13.7) that will enable any users to opt into notifications. The information is from Business Insider.

Available in the US, the update may help to increase the reach of people engaging in Apple’s contact tracing tech, which would make it more effective.
