Mexico‘s government reported that this Saturday, it will send Argentina the first 800,000 AstraZeneca vaccines that it produces in conjunction with that country and announced that it will donate 400,000 doses to Belize, Bolivia, and Paraguay.
The Secretary of Foreign Relations, Marcelo Ebrard, announced last May 25 that these first 800,000 doses would be sent to Argentina by the end of that month. Still, a final authorization from the Swedish-British pharmaceutical company, based in London, was lacking.
In 2020, it was agreed with AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford, the developers of the formula, that Argentina would process the vaccines while Mexico would handle the packaging.
