In a meeting with Brazil’s Ministry of Health on Friday, the pharmaceutical company Moderna confirmed that it could offer to the country 13 million doses of its vaccine in 2021, reported Agência Brasil.
The company’s promise is to guarantee 1 million doses by July and equal amounts in the months of August and September. Between October and December, the remaining 10 million doses would be available.
Élcio Franco, an executive secretary from Brazil’s Ministry of Health, stated that the position presented by the company gave “security” to advance in the negotiation and signing of the contract.
Franco recalled that for vaccine administration and payment of doses, the immunizer must obtain authorization from the country’s regulator, Anvisa.
