Brazilian health secretaries create a parallel panel on COVID-19

After Brazil‘s federal government delayed the release of data on COVID-19 for several days, the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass, in its acronym in Portuguese) began to release a parallel panel on Sunday (7), gathering data from States.

The measure was taken after the Ministry of Health delayed the release of data on the disease for three consecutive days, left the page with the data off the air for 24 hours and omitted the accumulated data on the pandemic of the new coronavirus in the country.

The panel of state health secretaries points out that, in the last 24 hours, 30,164 new cases of the disease and 1,113 deaths were registered.

In total, so far, the country accounts for 680,456 cases of COVID-19, and 36,148 deaths from the disease.
