Brazil has registered 120,546 coronavirus deaths and 3,847,739 confirmed cases until this Sunday afternoon. In terms of total deaths, Brazil is the hardest-hit country in the world outside of the United States. However, daily new cases and deaths have begun to stabilize in recent weeks.
Mexico, in its turn, reported 591,712 coronavirus infections and 63,819 deaths due to the disease as of Saturday night.
Also this weekend, Peru and Argentina began to lead the number of new infections per million people on a 7-day rolling average, according to Our World in Data, with 235 and 199 cases per million respectively.
Peru has reported 2,603 new infections between Friday and Saturday, and now has 647,166 confirmed cases and 28,788 deaths. Argentina has 401,239 confirmed cases and 8,401 deaths.
Coronavirus cases in Colombia surpassed 600,000 on Sunday as deaths from the virus approach 19,400, ahead of the end to more than five months of lockdown.
The Andean country has 607,938 confirmed cases of the virus according to the health ministry, with 19,364 reported deaths. Active cases number 136,702.
