Britain began vaccinating its population with Oxford University and AstraZeneca‘s COVID-19 shot on Monday in a world first, reported Reuters.

Brian Pinker, 82, became the first person to get the Oxford/AstraZeneca shot outside of a trial. In Latin America, Brazil‘s National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) approved on Saturday (2) a request from Fiocruz for the exceptional import of 2 million ready-made doses of the vaccine against COVID-19 developed by the University of Oxford and pharmaceutical AstraZeneca.

The application of the immunizer, however, still depends on the registered or authorization for emergency use of the vaccine, which has not yet been requested by Fiocruz. The foundation has already said it intends to place the order by January 15.
