Volaris, Mexico’s second-biggest airline, plans to operate at 75% capacity in September

Mexican low-cost carrier Volaris said that it plans for next mont to operate at 75% of its capacity, measured in terms of seats per mile available, in a sign of a gradual recovery in demand following the sharp decline in air traffic caused by the coronavirus in previous months.

The company said in a statement that the capacity operated in May, June, July and August 2020 represented 11%, 37%, 55% and 70% of its total operations against the originally published itinerary for those months.

Volaris is currently Mexico’s second largest airline, behind flag carrier Aeroméxico, and operates both domestic flights and connections to U.S. airports,
