Volaris, Mexico’s second-biggest airline, plans to operate at 75% capacity in September

Mexican low-cost carrier Volaris said that it plans for next mont to operate at 75% of its capacity, measured in terms of seats per mile available, in a sign of a gradual recovery in demand following the sharp decline in air traffic caused by the coronavirus in previous months.

The company said in a statement that the capacity operated in May, June, July and August 2020 represented 11%, 37%, 55% and 70% of its total operations against the originally published itinerary for those months.

Volaris is currently Mexico’s second largest airline, behind flag carrier AeromĂ©xico, and operates both domestic flights and connections to U.S. airports,
