WhatsApp will limit forwarding messages to prevent fake news

WhatsApp is limiting message forwards to one contact each time. The new feature started to roll out today worldwide. The company said that the limit will be applied when the message has been shared more than five times, according to TechCrunch. Its aim is to curtail the spread of misinformation in the coronavirus outbreak.

WhatsApp is aligned with NGOs and World Health Organization to fight fake news about COVID-19. In the future, the company expects to develop a feature that allows the user to check if the information received in the message is available on trustworthy websites.
